A medical engineer, he has enjoyed a long and productive life much of which he attributes to the support of family, teachers and mentors. He has seen nearly eight decades of changes in the treatment and care for hemophilia patients.

Hemophilia of North Carolina would like to invite our members and families who are affected by a bleeding disorder and friends in the medical community to attend our next program in the HNC On the Go series. Come celebrate Cinco de Mayo with the HNC Latin Union Group and enjoy a presentation on the world of hemophilia.
This is a wonderful opportunity to learn more about the global caring community and celebrate a belated World Hemophilia Day (April 17, 2009) together. Enjoy a very special presentation by Guillermo Sanchez, HNC's Hispanic Liaison, who will share his insight and story about growing up with hemophilia in Mexico.
A special themed lunch will be provided to celebrate our Cinco de Mayo theme along with games and activities for the children. At the conclusion of the meeting, members will receive tickets to tour the NC Zoo and enjoy all the exhibits where you can discover more than 1,100 animals and connect with wildlife from two different continents as you explore 500 acres of exhibits carefully constructed to resemble natural habitats. Walk from Africa's grasslands to North America's Arctic coast!

Hemophilia of North Carolina invites our consumer members and friends in the medical community to attend our first program in the HNC On the Go series. Enjoy a dinner and presentation on von Willebrand Disease (vWD). The program will include information about vWD and the recent PBS movie featuring some of our local physicians – Health Body/Healthy Mind: von Willebrand Disease.
This is a wonderful opportunity learn more about vWD which affects up to 1% of the population, both males and females. Our speaker for the evening will be Virginia Kraus, RN, MSN, Medical Science Liaison, Grifols USA. Virginia has had many years of clinical management experience in acute care, home care and disease management implementation. She is a clinical educator and has developed therapy-specific training and been instrumental in the launch of new products and new indications. Virginia has been a liaison for clinical studies for both coagulation and immunology.
There is no fee to attend the event and dinner will be provided. Please register by April 18, 2009 to hold your reservation.
