Everyone's a winner at the 2010 Casino Night!
Hemophilia of North Carolina (NHC) hosted our third annual “Hearts for Hemophilia” Casino Night event on Saturday, January 23rd at the wonderful Museum of Natural Sciences in downtown Raleigh. We are pleased to see that this event continues to grow each year as we hosted over 125 people during this evening.
Each guest was greeted by our terrific team of volunteers and received their $10,000 in ‘funny money’ play chips to ready themselves for play at the gaming tables. Guests were able to enjoy a delicious assortment of foods and an open bar of beer & wine throughout the evening.
Back by popular demand was the fabulous quintet from the UNC-Chapel Hill Jazz Band who entertained us through the evening.
The venue is always a highlight of the evening as we dined and played amongst the exhibits in the North Carolina Natural Treasures section of the museum and the two story high Coastal Carolina area for an amazing backdrop to the roulette, blackjack, craps and pokers tables!
Guests enjoyed all levels of gaming from beginner to the experienced and were well guided and instructed by the wonderful staff of dealers. At the end of the night, we had lots of winners that cashed in their chips for raffle tickets and a chance to win some great prizes. We also hosted a "guess the number of chips" contest where guests took a chance at guessing the number of colorful play chips in the vase. The number of chips was kept top secret until the winner was announced!
The live auction featured a vintage jewelry collection, a sports memorabilia package, a beautiful handmade quilt, a beach house vacation in Ocean Isle, an overnight stay and dinner at Harrah's Cherokee Casino & Hotel and a stunning hand designed amethyst necklace. Auctioneer and fellow member, Terry Lamb, did an amazing job of working the bids from the crowd!
The night concluded with a very special thank you to our sponsors, guests, organizing committee and volunteers. Each attendee received a special gift of chocolates as a thank you for their support and being our guest for the evening. The night raised over $25,000 for Hemophilia of North Carolina and proceeds will help us to continue our goal of promoting opportunities to improve the quality of life for those affected by a bleeding disorder. We support this goal through ongoing educational programs, patient advocacy, emergency financial assistance and a host of other programs and services for the community.
A very special thank you to the many individuals, organizations and companies for their continued support of this event and Hemophilia of North Carolina.
